I'm sorry Jordan, but Trump only had 3 lawsuits active post election. The rest were from other parties. A large plurality of those rulings were dismissed on standing without taking any evidence into account. I've always thought illogical views in logical areas is down to pure Tribalism. You see this not only in Politics, but also in sports, technology(phones/ games consoles) and various other brand-relared things. So I think this goes way back, when we were organised into tribes. Obviously, we've moved on from this approach, but I think people unconsciously fall into this. If you look across the Internet, this is rife, everywhere.

Phew! A big sigh of relief on my part, hearing him express deep concern over the radical conspiracy theories supporting Trump! Given his past...well, let's say what I feel is a lack of sufficient condemnation of Trump....I was worried about what I might hear him say here about him, and his support. And also, his questioning of Saad's emphasis on the "infectious ideas" of the Left rather than the Right - good! I was half expecting this chat to be yet another bagging of the far Left (which it deserves btw), but no, Peterson seems intent on keeping balance, which is excellent. Welcome back Dr Peterson!!!

12:10 obviously some strange things happened and lots of people wanted it to be thoroughly researched, I think most of these people who 'thought' that there was election fraud will eventually settle their beliefs if it turns out to not be the case, I mean, most people don't have the time to be satiate themselves with all the information available on a specific issue hence they uncritical to a certain degree, we received enough hints of election fraud, and we collectively pushed a narrative with the purpose of understanding what happened and rectify possible injustices, in the process some people exaggerate their beliefs to empower a narrative. I wouldn't really call it a "infectious idea" as long as people will be able to adapt their ideas to new information. But on the other examples, such as QAnon, I agree, low iq bullshit.

Focus should be on the left because they are firmly within a position of power, overwhelmingly within the social/public spheres. The extreme right is always there and a threat, but at this point it seems as if they are being used more as boogeyman to push a narrative and to garner support for the left.
11 күн мурунManiac
No the far right arent boogeymen. Perhaps the QAnon and capitol rushers, sure. I notice a big movement against socialism and a general idea that modern western socialism is just a step to communism. Covid politics have caused this additional tension. Imagine youre already against the lockdown , you cant leave your home too late or early , your freedoms constantly get infringed upon day by day by something you do not agree with AND to make matters worse you get forcefully taxed 50% so they can further enforce these totalitarian measures which work against you, your life passions and your general peaceful existence... I actually wholeheartedly agree with that myself whilst I also agree with most things said on this podcast. I think Europe is going to split in half in terms of socialism and individualism. The EU and its news syndicates feel like a totalitarian technocracy that does not have the best interests at heart of people who want to be free.

"If I create a world of full profundity where I appear as though I am saying something deeply profound and meaningful whereas, in reality, I am uttering a complete gibberish then maybe my pros can be as impenetrable as those hotty mathematicians." This is basically what is happening in the arts as well, including modern classical music. The discourse behind the work of music or the work of art has become more important than the work itself. :'( Some people are desperately trying to put music at the same level of science, which can turn the creative process into a nightmare. Music makes people's lives better, but not by turning it into science

We're attracted to, and susceptible to, oversimplifications and reductionist theories because they're very efficient from a mental resource consumption standpoint. Reflexively thinking "male-female wage gap == patriarchy" takes a whole lot less effort than mulling over a multi-variate - but much more accurate - theory. It conserves precious mental CPU cycles. And if that same garbage reductionist theory endears us to people with whom we wish to curry favor, so much the better.

Much as I agree with many of Gad's ideas, Queers for Palestine seems a poor example of an irrational, "parasitic" idea at work. As I understand it, the group opposes Israel's cynical efforts to use its gay friendliness to distract from its abuse of Palestinians. It seems simple-minded to argue that gays should not criticize Israel for that because they would be better off living there rather than in the intolerant open-air prison that is Gaza. I think their position demonstrates altruism, not "parasitism". It's _Gad's_ perspective here that is irrational, in my view.

That story is so bizarre , it even proves Jesus wrong - "if a son asked the father for an egg , would he have given him a scorpion" ? So sad to see that Jordan still clings to the institutions that seek to destroy him as though they are somehow redeemable. Denying the corruption in the elections and not critically examining the facts but rather using talking points he’s been given. The whole “I don’t know about Q” then telling people what he thinks it’s about is so anti-intellectual it took me days to accept that Jordan’s delusional in certain aspects of reality. I hope he actually puts his faith in God into practice instead of just talking about it. Maybe then he would see the objective truth regarding the globalists and their systemic infiltration and corruption of our world. Or maybe Jordan is just a closet globalist? For a majority of people across the world, all different in various ways, there is a belief in the existence of a higher power in the form of a god or gods, so is this phenomenon then proof of the existence of a higher power? People recognise beauty as in the symmetry of a face but in the same way, people recognise a higher power as in the 'symmetry' in the literature written on that higher power as for example in the bible and other religious literature, which often espouse remarkably similar concepts, but that come from such different eras, cultures and languages and are often too far apart for this being simply because of any influence between them.

All the way left is full authoritarianism. Libertarians are actually "pretty far right" because we want limited government and limited taxes. Just some thoughts while listening... While I can understand Saad's criticism of LGBT+ of people supporting the freedom of a people who typically aren't culturally welcoming to gay people, he comes across as equally generalizing both to Palestinian and LGBT+ people in his anecdote by not fleshing the thought out more -- I do realize the point of this talk isn't to discuss this topic specifically. Firstly, he didn't acknowledge that LGBT+ people can also be Palestinian and thus severely negatively impacted by both the Israeli occupation as well as Hamas, and religious and political extremism. Second, Saad doesn't address the fact that LGBT+ people, regardless of their ethnic or political affiliation, may be compassionate to the plight of the Palestinians (particularly its LGBT+ identifying people) and support their basic human rights under military occupation and threats of violence from both political states that violate their rights. Third, this doesn't touch on the complexities of the political landscape in Israel, the Israeli laws that are used to discriminate against Palestinians (as well as African Jews seeking asylum), or seek to differentiate Hamas/religious and political extremism from the Palestinian people as a whole. Generalizing that any country or its people might be wholly represented by the ideologies of some elected officials is silly. Perhaps he does this better somewhere in his publishings? I just don't believe that because a population who may be generally low in openness to gay marriage also means that they should not be deserving of human rights, dignity, or empathy regardless of who the empathy may come from.

For all who are at beginning stages of their intellectual development, these two stooges serve as fine warning examples of how to get stuck in loopy patterns in thinking. The amount of self-congratulations is repulsive. It seems as though their mask of friendliness and compassion for the listeners is deceptive, since in their 'theories' about 'the postmodernist' they are approaching paranoid psychosis. 'The postmodernist' is someone who, for them, has stolen their enjoyment, and now the task is to retrieve it, to do justice. It is too bad to see them stuck in loopy patterns. Very loopy things indeed. But look at the late stages of the much maligned Jacques Lacan: major developments at very high age. But also Žižek (who absolutely beat Peterson at Toronto): over 70 and still going strong. Whereas these guys are stuck in repetition compulsions, that are unconscious in the Freudian sense.

One of the main reasons the you can't make sense of the american right and left is the you believe that they are defined by the political lines of democrat and republican. This makes you believe that the Nazis were equivalent to the american right and republicans. What makes this hard to understand from listening to you is that you seemed to understand our consistution, which is totally incompatible with nazism and leftism., Whether there s a separate right from constitutional republicanism may be a question, but that is as much of a subset of people who fundamentally misunderstand the constitution, that they have placed themselves on the wrong side of the political isle, The truth is that the true conservatives and liberals live within the republican party. The democrats are a party of no values that merely exists to make and arguement to gain power. They use the easiest argments to win, or basically contrary positions to the republican or consttiutionalists.

Dr. Peterson, a few notes. 1. It is great to hear you having a technical discussion. I would love to (and be willing to support) hear you continue having public discussion of the kind that academics peers previously have had behind closed doors or at annual conferences. 2. You say "I'm not mathematically gifted" then you say "if I can't understand it, then the author hasn't made it clear". As someone with a Ph.D in mathematics, let me reassure you that the vast majority of mathematical books and teaching material is about as opaque as it possible can be. I'm sure you have some theories as to why that might be the case. 3. It is an absolute joy to hear you and Gaad talk about pragmatic epistemology. Almost no-one (at least in my extended circle) even knows what that word means. Yet you and Gaad go through how epistemology works when the rubber hits the world. In regards to the list of conspiracies required to believe the election was "FORTIFIED" to "ENSURE" the proper "OUTCOME"... The entire electoral college doesn't need to be corrupted. One simply needs to fortify a few key places. 60 cases claim is a mainstream lie. Trump had 5 or 6 cases. Prior to the election they claimed latches. Meaning there hasn't been any harm yet so you have no case. After the election they claimed standing. Meaning he wasn't the injured party. In no case was any evidence or any merits of the case tried. In the cases Trump's lawyers filed it was all procedural. I would like to know if the article in Time Magazine would change Dr Peterson's opinion. Also I agree that negative dangerous conspiratorial or parasitic ideas are possible to germinate on the right. However I would love an example. Seems to me that the ones that produce the most body bags are from the left. Any that do come from the right. Tend to create offspring with compromised genetic material, which is a self correcting outcome.

It isn't that biology is wrong... it is boring, sober and utterly removed from the reality of experience when discussing matters like sexuality, political problems, social movements, etc. THAT is what postmodernism would state. It is insufficient. He is trying to ascertain postmodernism by a completely antithetical epistemology, and he is conflating. This was very hard to watch. The postmodernism only makes sense really in terms of a literary theory. He is ripping it out if its particular place and expecting things from it which are totally impossible and completely irrelevant to it. Am I wrong to suspect he is just mad that he DIDN'T understand Derrida and Lacan? Don't forget Nietzche and his aesthetics when reading postmodernism! 'Truth' Ahahahahahahahaha good luck. Its bullshit right on its face and should never have been given an inch among intelligentsia. In much the same way calling white people evil while benefitting directly from the western world is bankrupt, so too is employing post modernist thinking while insisting its consequentially relevant and necessary.
