@Diesel Creek Opps, sorry. I'll blame it on the editor, who should blame it on the set crew for not covering it. :-) I can spot that rear frame and hitch layout at 300 yards. Not to mention the "4-Wheel Drive" decal on the gate. They were that design from the '40s - the mid '70s I believe. Drove my first CJ5 51 years ago, have had three since then. I was at a boneyard/crusher here in the sticks of East TN several years ago and in the stacks I spotted three flattened, broke my heart. Can't wait for the reveal!!

You have added to the compaction of the soil with that silly " mop pipe " instead of opening the soil up with a single shank sub Miller along the sides of the road where ditches need to be dug and run the sub soiler off into the dried part of the woods on both sides of the road.you really have done nothing

These lands seem like a sponge, they are always flooded, they will always give you a lot of work, the idea of making a water passage next to the driveway, I think it is the best you have been able to do. In your community it rains or snows a lot, so you have guaranteed water without cuts or restrictions. Greetings from Barcelona-Spain

Not sure what your plans are for the side of the driveway thats getting a lot of water, but after youve graded and all that, any other spots that seem the wettest, Plant Weeping willow trees, they are excellent for water control, have a wide root system that would help firm up the ground, and would thrive there.

11:30 - Line it with medium rocks and put flat stones along the sides. That might help prevent it from getting messed up.

After watching this week's Farm Journal report and the AG weather, seeing NW PA in a root zone moisture drought condition, it's odd seeing your land soggy. Not a long distance North of you they show high drought. Odd to say the least. Good video, Matt, you make it look easy!

Hummm...if you never had a water problem before the 'drive' was made then the drive is the problem, so a few simple pipes across the drive (of course I mean a French drain, perforated pipe wrapped in terram then covered around with shingle or clean limestone) this should stop your problem, simply moving soil around hasn't stopped the original problem...has it!!!

I don't understand why the stump was left in the ground or there aren't deeper ditches next to the road. You have an excavator, you can dig some retention ponds and have the ditches run into them to handle the water.

Hello; Here's an idea for you. When the area is dry enough find a area you will never have plans for and dig a big hole, fill it with big rocks then smaller ones to make a space for all that water to drain into. Put in at least one culvert to cross the road and your problems will be a lot less. Find some FREE "rocky" fill to put in the low spots then come in with top soil. Sounds easy anyway. It's just a idea. Good luck and keep us posted. Be safe and well.

You need to build what we called a Spoon drain, which is Vee shaped . Cattle can walk up to the edge an not wreck the banking. You will need to make a vee bucket though. Also, did you know you can train those hedge plants to grow thicker? look up some of the very old films posted up here on YT showing them being trained in England in the 1940's. Cheaper than a fence.

HUBBABUBBA DOOPYDOOP

Why are cows being allowed to risk leg breakage, crossing the road, only to come upon a barbed wire fence? Shouldn't the fence (another?) be on the other side of the road? How much are sharpened branches & a roll of wire, compared to diesel & wear-n-tear on machinery? I can just imagine how much a French Drain would be for this. Actually- you could easily eliminate this entire problem- At the top of your driveway, simply cut a 2ft deep ditch across your road, then fan out the creek onto the other plot. You could use you trench machine, a load of gravel, a length of pipe. Maybe throw a couple bags of Quickcrete at it on the outsides of pipe, spray down harden in place- no mixing.

Too bad you have to use the chain and can't just hold the mop pipe with the thumb. Then you could drop it to use the bucket and just pick it up again whenever you want. If raising the whole drive and installing culverts is out of the question, would finding or making/grading the lowest spot and installing some sort of bridge for water to flow under be an option? Will be cool to see your final solution to getting it all drained away off your property. With luck it won't cause problems for a neighbor, but then, I would guess that water has always gone the same general direction and you are just getting it back on course in a way that works with your other changes.
