I'm going to assume by your statement that you find the fact that the public is being sold products that are fraudulent, not really a big deal. Then why are you surprised that 1 in 5 fish is mislabeled in a way that surely financially benefits the seller not the buyer. Until we raise awareness that cheap fast food is actually fake food, and have some dignity to what we put in our bodies as a nation this kind of crap will continue, and by "crap" I mean FOOD FRAUD. Taco Bell knows all too well how to handle this kind of news...you just run a full page add in the paper saying that "Yes, we've been selling you Vegetable Beef Protein for decades...and you've been fine with it" So basically, the question is why has it taken so long to figure this out? Answer: because the American public in general has such low expectations of a $5 sub, $2 burger, $2 Taco that the fact that it tastes good exceeds the publics perception of quality for the price. You know why I love the idea of a $15 minimum wage? because fast food only survives if it starts selling a better product at a higher price. I gave up on Subway years ago, its almost as fake as Little Cesar's. For reference, Little Cesar's is well known in the industry as having every ingredient adulterated to the point that its bordering on not even qualifying to be called pizza even in American low standards. You should applaud every lawsuit against companies that seem frivolous because litigation is the only way to stop food fraud, which is stealing on a wholesale scale.

You said the right answer but missed at the same time. Company’s spin this story’s. To show how great there ingredients are. Then make a campaign to boast sales. And if it was a real lawsuit that held and weight it would have been settled. So the answer is simple. A pr group working for subway is making the lawsuit to get press. Because look who they ran to. The media. If it was real subway would silence it. This story will make them millions. And the case will be dropped. Subway and I believe Taco Bell sued themselves just for big media campaign discount coupon included. All a game

Or maybe this "suing" shenanigans are only ploys to advertise a product in a new inventive way, the people who are suing them are paid and sues the company without any concrete evidence and then when the thing blows up, they give up so that no damage will be done. Sooubway must have thought that it worked for Taco Bell so why not try it for ourselves, big exposure and sales without any loss at all. But hey, it's just a theory.

Well argued. I'm going to side with this for now. It would be Wile E. Coyote logic to come up with something unbelievably amazing just to use it like that. Second theory. I am sure that at some point some company will secretly start one of these lawsuits just to get this type of publicity, an opportunity to tell people that their product is good.

Yes James and Matt in the same vid. Oh, CBC is the Government National Broadcaster with "Marketplace" and "The Fifth Estate" as their leading thought provoking programs. You can "sue" for everything in America, huh? Most products you can buy in a supermarket, aren't really what they are advertised. Orange Juice contains pretty much not a single Orange, Chicken Wings are mainly consisting of Garbage/Waste Products, left over from other productions etc.

I live in Brazil and my dad said that, when McDonald's came into our state, people were saying that the beff patties in McDonald's Burgers weren't actual Cow Meat. Long story short, they said it was Monster meat. They said that the meat was from some sort of monster that was breeded in a lab that grew very fast and gave a lot of meat. Nowadays, this seems a ridiculous statement, but here we are again, with Subway suffering the sme by people saying their Tuna is not fish.

The next time you're in a Subway, ask yourself this: If each of these sandwiches' is $5-7 and there's all of this overhead; large building, employee's, ingredients, plus the franchise fee's back to Subway, how much does it cost to really make this sandwich? Do you really want a sandwich, pizza, taco, burger that every ingredient is adulterated to meet a $5 price point? I blame the American publics never ending appetite for convenient, cheap, low nutritional value food that is mostly to blame. The public doesn't care, that's the problem. They don't even care when fraud is being committed on each sale, anyone who stands up against food fraud is a hero in my book. Fake chocolate, fake cheese coated in cellulose (saw dust) , fake meat, its all crap.

Ockham's razor is not about "simplest explanation being usually the right one", it is that if you have two explanations *that reaches to the same conclusions* , choose the simplest one _with the less assumptions._ Some times more complexity does increase accuracy, and in that case Ockham's razor wouldn't apply. But if it doesn't, then why would you prefer the complicated answer? It is just a logical rule of thumb.
2 күн мурунquelorepario
tl;dr if you don't have a competing simpler hypothesis to contrast that apparenty complex hypothesis, you can't simply dismiss the complex one solely based on the subjective impression that it is just "complicated". You must have a simpler explanation that does cover EVERYTHING, as much as the complicated one, to apply Ockham's razor to prefer the simpler one.
